Minutes of Public Works/Safety Committee <br /> Meeting of Wednesday May 17, 1994 <br /> Public Works Lunchroom <br /> Meeting was called to order by Chairperson Dick Roessler at <br /> 7:30 p.m. Roll call was taken. <br /> Members Prp.sp.nt <br /> Richard Roessler, Arnie Delger, Richard Fregeau, Leslie <br /> Goldsmith and Herb Tatley. Absent: Jean Lemberg and Bill <br /> Gilles, Also present was Carl Rundquist (Finance Commitee <br /> Liaison) and Councilmember Probst attended for the latter <br /> part of the meeting. <br /> Minutp.s of the Meetina 4-17-94 <br /> Minutes were approved as submitted with the addition of <br /> Richard Fregeau's name to members present. <br /> Police Reoort <br /> No report was given. <br /> . Fire Department Report <br /> Fire Chief Dan Winkel stated that the frequency of fires has <br /> declined in the first quarter. County wide agility testing <br /> is being conducted for new Fire Deptartment members. The <br /> Lake Johanna Deptartment has new applicants. Membership is <br /> steady and includes a few women. <br /> Public Works Report <br /> Public Works Superintendent Dan Winkel reported and <br /> discussion followed on the Traffic Sign Policy and work of <br /> the Water Meter Subcommittee which had met on May 10. A <br /> motion to submit Traffic Sign Policy to City Council for <br /> approval was made by Tatley and seconded by Delger. A <br /> memorandom from Dan Winkel to City Council was submitted <br /> recommending replacing all existing water meters with the <br /> "Touch Read" system, or it's equivalent, as the basic <br /> starting systerm. <br /> Othp.r Businp.ss <br /> 1994 Public Works/Safety Committee goals and objections were <br /> discussed in preparation for a meeting with City Council, <br /> . May 19, 1994. Chairman Roessler presented the Public <br /> Works/Safety Committee mission statement to us, It will be <br /> presented to the City Council in a short form. A lengthy <br /> discussion followed on emphasis items, department goals and <br /> equipment replacement policy. <br /> ----.-.----- - --- -- --------- <br />
