<br /> away from Karth Lake. In my previous memo, dated June 20, 1994, I had estimated the cost
<br /> '.\ ,r';~. to accomplish this diversion at $70,000. The break down of this is that approximately
<br /> $27,500 worth of storm sewer would need to be added to the current Amble Drive project
<br /> .,.,",~ The remaining $42,500 would be for storm sewer and street restoration along the Pleasant

<br /> As you requested, we have also analyzed the total tributary area to Karth Lake relative to
<br />s~; !f(!t,'G how much area we would be diverting away with this storm sewer installation, From the
<br /> City's aerial topography is appears that there is approximately one hundred acres of tributary
<br /> .~. ",.,.. area to Karth Lake. The Amble Drive area in question represents less than eight acres of this
<br /> area. Therefore, the $70,000 expenditure would divert away approximately 8 % of the entire
<br />~~,~ \'SF'OF,:" :.:'\, area.
<br /> As you and I have previously discussed, this may not be the most efficient way to spend
<br /> money on the lowering of the water level in Karth Lake, It would seem that $70,000 would
<br /> be better spend toward a lift station, which could have the effect of lowering the lake level
<br /> based on the tributary area. We. have. Ilot estimated the cost nor the method of diversion
<br /> utilizing a lift station, The one issue a lift station would not deal with would be the quality
<br /> of the water in Karth Lake since the entire tributary area would run off and get there prior
<br /> to being pumped out of the lake.
