, ..
CITY OF ARDEN HILLS
. MEMJRl\NOOM
DATE: July 21, 1994
TO: Dorothy Person, City 1\rlm;n;strator
FRCM: Dan Winkel, Public Works SuperintPnrlPnt ti.Jt/.
stJB.JEX:.T : SuI:p1us Sal.e Update
Staff has reviewed the sealed bids that were sul:rnitted for the surplus
sale held on Saturday, July 9, Enclosed is the corrplete list of
equiprent that was for sale. Staff is reccmrending that the itans
rrarked with an asterisk be sold for the sul:rnitted bid price,
It should be noted that the S-10 Chevrolet pick-up had two bids with
the highest being a reasonable bid for the truck, I had the Public
Works staff bring this truck to three local used truck dealers to
solicit bids and received the following offers:
. Polar Chevrolet $6,650
Rosedale Chevrolet $6,500
Viking/Friendly Chevrolet $6,000
The O1evrolet Cut-Away chasis with bo::ly or water van received only one
bid of $5,900. I do not think this is a reasonable bid and should not
be accepted. I =rently have two individuals who saw the van parked
in our lot and will be offering bids by the end of the day tcxlay, or
possibly early t=rrow, Both were info:t:1lEd that the mininum asked
price is $13,500, and that any bids received will need to be sarewhat
close to the asking price.
Staff is investigating the possibility of selling the rerraining itans
at a State hosted auction. Staff has learned the State has auction
sales at different tines throughout the year, and that Ramsey County
participates in these auctions on a regular basis. As soon as the
details of the auctions are available, staff will 1l'ake plans to
participate if allowed to do so.
rn: to
.
