CITY OF ARDEN HILLS
. MEMORANDUM
DATE: September 16, 1994
TO: Mayor and City Councilmembers
FROM: Dorothy Person, City Administrator
SUBJECT: City Newsletter discussion - Sept 21,1994
In a phone conversation with Councilmember Aplikowski re: information for the Council
packet for this item, she asked that a note be forwarded re: her reasoning for asking for
discussion of this item.
Bev stressed that she wishes to review this cost item, similar to a budget item review~ She
asks - for the price the City pays for the newsletter ($18,000) is our goal being
accomplished.? She stated she has no problem with the style or format type issues. However,
is the information timely enough to be of assistance/use to the citizens? Should the
. ,
newsletter go out more often? Would a one page newsletter more often be of greatet;, value?
By reading the newsletter, the reader should get a flavor of the entire City. Perhaps a feeling
of being a part of the City. Perhaps a review of the City Council meetings on a more timely
basis to allow for a more timely response to the issues~ Such as, when a road is going to be
worked on, the citizens know what's happening before it's done.
Bev said she's not against anything we've done so far. It's maybe time to review where we
are and where we are going.
A copy of the past two newsletter are enclosed per Bev's request for your review.
This is an agenda item to be discussed Wednesday at the Worksession. We hope to have a
good discussion at that time. Kate Huebsch has also asked to attend so that she understands
the concerns~
.
