<br /> Economic Development Committee Meeting Minutes <br />. August 18, 1994 <br /> 8:00 a.m. <br /> Army Reserve Center <br /> 1. The meeting was called to order at 8:00 a.m, <br /> 2. Present were Trygve Egge, Steve Friemuth, Mary Miller, <br /> Arnold Lindberg, Dan McCallum, Robb Carlson Jr., <br /> Beverly Aplikowski and Community Planning Coordinator <br /> Brian Fritsinger. Absent was Jerry Moebnke and Tom <br /> Goblirsch. <br /> 3. The Committee recommended that staff provide <br /> information about Congressman Vento's upcoming meeting. <br /> 4, Carlson moved to approve the minutes from the July 21, <br /> 1994 meeting. <br /> S. Busines~ Contact~ <br /> Mr. Friemuth updated a discussion he had with Thomas <br />. Babcock P.A. Mr, Babcock's business has decided to <br /> stay in Arden Hills. Mr, Babcock indicated that Arden <br /> Hills is a bedroom community and not a business <br /> community <br /> Mr, McCallum talked to representatives at East Side <br /> Beverage who expressed concern about vandalism and <br /> theft. Otherwise the company indicated everything is <br /> okay, but it would like additional Police patrol, Mr. <br /> McCallum also discussed OWL Engineering who is looking <br /> for space, Mr. Fritsinger followed up and sent <br /> information about potential sites to OWL, <br /> Mr. Egge reviewed discussions with Control Data and its <br /> concerns expressed in the survey. Mr. Fritsinger <br /> reviewed the use of TIF as an economic tool by the City' <br /> of Arden Hills. The concerns expressed by Control Data <br /> were due to the City denying TIF assistance to a <br /> business considering the acquisition of a parcel of <br /> property from CDC. <br />. <br />
