The City of Shoreview has recently infonred rre that it is the City of Arden Hills' responsibility to provide warm \heather maintenance on the segrrents of the Lexington Avenue bike path between County Road F and S.T.H, 96, This is approximately one (1) mile, Attached is Resolution No, 83-20 authorizing a joint p:JWers agreement betwe"'Jl the cities of A.."Clen Hills and Shoreview for the maintenance of ce.."tain segrrents of the Lexington Avenue bike path. The bike path was constructed in 1983 and is in need of sealcoating. . I was contacted by Gene Kruckenberg, fran the Shoreview Public W::lrks Cepartrrent, who told rre that Shoreview is planning to seal coat the bike path from S,T.H. 96 to County Road G2. He offered to include the Arden Hills segrtl2I1t of trail with Shoreview's sealcoating bid. The City of Shoreview is planning to sealcoat five (5) miles of trails this fall, including their segrrent of the Lexington Avenue traiL Should the City decide to sealcoat the bike path, the cost is estimated to be $2,000-$2,500 for our one (1) mile segrrent, In the event that the City of Shoreview is unable to receive bid prices such as the aI::ove, they will probably wait until next spring. After talking with Dan Winkel and yourself regarding this issue, I =uld recormend sealcoating the Lexington Avenue trail frc:m S.T,H. 96 to County Road F in conjunction with the City of Shoreview's sealcoatL~g projects.
