--
. NSCC/ August Report
August 23, 1994
Page 2.
the Government Information Advisory Council, established by the State Legislature last spring,
but I believe the group has equal value as a forum for sharing information.
MACT A Bv-Laws Committee - The MACT A Board's lackluster performance this
past year convinced a number of us that the by-laws of the organization needed major revision in
order to reform the organization. (problems have included continued bickering and self-serving
behavior by consultants serving on the Board, as well as general disorganization, as evidenced by
the late mailing of the mini-conference brochure.) I agreed to serve on the committee which met
twice in August before concluding the re-write. Among other things, the committee is recom-
mending that the name of the organization be changed to Minnesota Association of Cable and
Telecommunications Administrators.
Meetings with Meredith CSR's -- On August 1, I met with three groups of
customer service representatives for Meredith Cable to review with them the roles and responsi-
bilities of the Cable Commission and the Access Corporation. (Meredith supervisory staff
continued the presentations to the balance of the CSR's.) Our receptionists have been getting
. numerous telephone calls from cable customers erroneously referred to us by the CSR's. In
particular, they seemed to refer to us any caller asking for information about programming, even
their own programming by KABL. According to Roxanne DeFlorin, the number of calls about
programming do seem to have decreased so far this month.
Other Attachments:
.
