Perry Park:
Our Hope for Tomorrow
The proposed redevelopment plan addresses each of the five problems head on.
Specifically:
1) Better spaced fields: We will construct four softball fields so that the outfields
do not overlap. This eliminates the safety hazard of outfielders running into one another..
2) Ample, planned parking: The existing driveway and parking lot will be
removed and a new parking are will be constructed by the warming house near the park
entrance.
3) Extended use of ballfields: Lights will be added to the fields furthest from
resident housing. This would extend the hours of use allowing four teams of little League
girls fastpitch or adult softball another game each night.
. 4) Improved drainage: Catch basins and storm sewers will be installed to better
channel and drain tbe water that contributes to the erosion problem. The eroded areas will
be repaired and by spacing the fields difterently, the dangerous drop off will be eliminated.
5) ADA accessibility: The entire site would be regraded to make it level. This
eliminates the four.foot incline which makes the upper fields and the play area inaccessible
by ADA standards. Further, the playground structures would be relocated from its present
secluded area to an area on the west side of the park. The play area will then be visible
from the warmi:1g shelter, parking Jot, driveway and all softball fields. The existing
equipment is out of date and will be replaced in the project's second phase.
.
