City )l.timini "trator
FRCM: Cindy severtson Walsh
StJBJECl' : Marketing Plan to obtain Perry Park Redeve1.opnent Funds
Backcround
The Parks and Recreation Comnittee and I have been brainstorming ideas
on ways to obtain funds to redevelop Charles Pen:y Park. Grant rroney
from the OUtdcor Recreation Grant that I applied for is a potential
source. However, there needs to be alternative funding sources in the
event that we don't receive the grant. We have explored options of
atterrpting to obtain funds from the following sources: foundations,
charitable gambling organizations, and local companies.
- DevelaCllllSlt of a tAArketina Plan
It was the consensus of the Park and Recreation comnittee that a
marketing plan be developed as a teal to present the Perry Park
Redevelopment to organizations. This plan will include a description
of the park, key problem areas, proposed redevelopment plans which
w::>uld address these problems and trapS of the park - then and new.
A sub-carrnittee of the Parks and Recreation Comnittee has been w::>rking
on defining the information to be presented. In an attelllpt to create
an appealing project proposal, Kate Huebsch has been w::>rking with the
sub-carrnittee on layout and design. Kate suggested that the proj ect
have a theme which serves as the "creative book" to gain attention and
interest. One possible therre, which is =ied through the attached
plan, is a 5 (five) _ point plan using a star to symbolize the various
points. Each point w:JUld represent a problem at Perry Park that w::>uld
be rerredied with the redevelopnent project. This marketing plan w:JUld
be presented to each possible funding source.
Ftmdina for Marketina Plan
It is reccmrended that funding for this marketing plan care frcm fund
#227 Park Fund. In addition to the projects that will be cmpleted
- frcm the park fund in 1994, there will be funds available within the
total budgeted arrount to pay for this marketing plan.
