This roadway will now be known as County Road G. This is the first of a series of road turn-backs that will occur under the consolidation of roadways, which was agreed to I during 1994. "This is one of the big successes of our legisl~tive work." said Ramsey County I- Commissioner Dick Wedell, chair of the Parks and Public Works Committee. This action was the result of a local government services study, which brought forward suggestions I for consolidations among jurisdictions. "The system is working," said Wedell, "County to City transfers are moving ahead as well, and the results will benefit our communities." I As part of the state system, improvements to Trunk Highway 96 received a low priority. As a major thoroughfare in the County system, the roadway is a priority, and future improvements are eligible for County State Aid Highway (CSAH) turn-back funds. I Improvements to the new County Road G, from White Bear Parkway to Trunk Highway 61 will begin this summer. Plans include: reconstruction to accommodate I turnlanes, resurfacing, improved lighting and utility improvements. Reconstruction of County Road G will affect the communties of White Bear I Township and White Bear Lake. One lane in each direction will remain open during reconstruction to accommodate traffic. I A task force made up of representatives from the communities bordering County Road G will develop a concept report to guide future improvements on County Road G west of White Bear Parkway.
