I
I. CITY OF ARDEN HILLS
I MEMORANDUM
I DATE: May 23, 1995
I TO: Mayor and City Council
Brian Fritsinger, Administrat@
FROM:
I
SUBJECT: Arden Manor Water Connection
I On May 22, Staff met with Steve Maki, Chief Civil Engineer for Federal Cartridge Company
I (FCC) to discuss the possible connection of Arden Manor Mobile Home Park to mnnicipal
water. An agreement is pending between FCC and Arden Manor where FCC will pay for
the hook-up to municipal water and abandonment of existing wells.
I FCC has approached the City to determine whether or not this connection is feasible, and if
I. feasible, would the City consider administering the contract. FCC will pay for all costs
associated with the preparation of plans and specifications, construction and connection fees.
FCC needs to have the project completed by September I, 1995. There will be no
I assessments required as part of this project, as the project is being funded under an
Army/FCC/Arden Manor agreement.
I The Council may recall, approximately one year ago, the City and Arden Manor had briefly
discussed utilizing municipal water as a standby source. .Mr. Mald indicated FCC is now
looking for municipal water to be the primary source of water for the Park. As this utility
I may become the City's responsibility in the future it may be beneficial to consider active
involvement in the project during design and construction.
I Recommendation
Staff would recommend the Council direct Staff to continue discussions with FCC and
I prepare a connection agreement for this project.
Staff would anticipate returning to the Council on June 12, 1995 with a recommendation to
I proceed on the preparation of plans and specifications.
I
I-
I
