I .
.
.,. CITY OF ARDEN HILLS
I MEMORANDUM
I DATE: May 16, 1995
I TO: Mayor and City Council
Brian Fritsinger, Administratt:@)
FROM:
I
SUBJECT: Ventilation of Public Works Garage
I Attached the Council will find quotes for the replacement of the ventilation/exhaust system
at the Public Works garage. The poor ventilation within the facility has been cited by the
I former Public Works Director as a problem several times in the past and identified as
something which needed to be corrected.
I The previous cost estimates for this correction had only been a fraction of the quotes
received. The quotes received are:
II l. Harris Air Systems - $3,095
2. Rainville-Carlson, Inc. - $12,080
I 3. Cool Air Mechanical, Inc. - $5,395
4. Albers - $5,518
I Each of these quotes is substantially different and most did not include any cost for electrical
and roof mg. I reviewed these items with Dave Kriesel and Eugene Palmy. In investigating
the situation both inspectors suggested that only the Rainville-Carlson quote actually
I resolves the existing problem.
The City has within the 1995 budget $3,000 specified for building structure improvements.
I The remainder of this cost could be transferred from the Special Building Fund. Rather than
incurring these costs at this time, Staff would recommend the Council continue to develop
I its options for new facilities over the next several months. The Council can then rebid this
project or direct Staff to have the project completed prior to winter.
I
I
..
I
