I
I
I- CITY OF ARDEN HILLS
MEMORANDUM
I DATE: July 3, 1995
I TO: Mayor and City Council
Brian Fritsinger, Administrat~
I FROM:
SUBJECT: Aiken Drainage
I
Attached the Council will find additional information from Engineer Stonehouse addressing
I the drainage problems on Amble Road. Mr. Stonehouse has provided information on two
options available to the City to correct this problem.
I I had asked Mr. Stonehouse to take a closer look at the regrading option. On a site
inspection, I was concerned the elevations were not present to adequately drain tlte pond
I- around the home. Mr. Stonehouse has confirmed that it is possible to utilize the drainage
easement and drain it around the property to tlte East.
I We also discussed a more long term solution. This consisted of the installation of a new
outlet and pipe at a cost of $17,000 to $22,000. While this solution should correct the
problem, it is significantly more expensive than regrading and resodding. If the Council
I should desire, SWM funds could be used to fund this project.
I will be attempting to meet with the three (3) property owners involved in this project prior
I to Thursday's meeting. Unless some major items of concern are expressed by the property
owners, I will recommend to the Council that the easement be required to correct the
problem.
I
I
I
I
I-
I
