JULY 20, 1995 <br /> +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ <br /> I Brian Fritsinger, Chair, called the meeting to order at <br /> 7:42 a.m. The followin~ members were present: <br /> I - Bob Fletcher, Ramsey county Sheriff <br /> - Brian Fritsinger, City of Arden Hills <br /> - Joel Hanson, City of Little Canada <br /> I - John Luey, Undersheriff, Ramsey county Sheriff'S Department. <br /> - Jan Reagan, White Bear. Township <br /> - Terry Schwerm, City of Shoreview <br /> I - Bill Short, White Bear Township <br /> - Jerry Urban, City of Vadnais Heights <br /> I APPROVAL OF MINUTES <br /> The Amended Minutes of June 15, 1995, were approved as submitted. <br /> I TRAFFIC CAR REPORT: Tag statistic reports from January 1 to June <br /> 30, 1995, were distributed. Barry Vaughn, Traffic Deputy, <br /> explained the statistics, noting that the fine amounts are listed <br /> I as the gross amounts (we get approximately 1/2 of the fines). He <br /> stated that requests for patrol have increased. Most of the <br /> complaints are coming from roadway construction areas. He also <br /> I . stated that the SMART Unit is being backed up with enforcement. <br /> 1996 BUDGET ESTIMATES <br /> I A revised budget (dated July 14, 1995) , was distributed. The Geo <br /> Tracker vehicle has been omitted and an adjustment has been made <br /> to indicate an entry level salary for the deputy to be hired <br /> I under the COPS AHEAD Grant. There is also an increase in the <br /> squad car estimates. <br /> The Group directed Luey to apply for the COPS Universal Hiring <br /> I Program Grant to fund the Crime Prevention/Crime Analysis <br /> position with a sworn officer. The budget will be restructured <br /> based upon a later start (September 1, 1996) for this position <br /> I (4 month cost, including the grant). <br /> The Group questioned if the budget included the new insurance <br /> rates. Luey will provide insurance information at the next <br /> I meeting. <br /> DEFIBRILLATION <br /> I Luey reported on his discussions with a doctor at st. Paul Ramsey <br /> and local Fire Chiefs. He noted that Vadnais Heights recommends <br /> I a unit that is interchangeable with Health span. There is some <br /> concern with regard to the durability of the SurVivaLink units. <br /> .
