On behalf of the City of Arden Hills, I would like to respond to your comments. I While we empathize with the problems the Mdewakanton Community has in regards to I its proximity to the NSP Plant, we are concerned about the ongoing discussions that propose using one-third of our community as a solution to that problem, The fact that this federally owned property has not been declared "surplus" limits the future use of this I. site even further. In the event that the property would be declared "surplus", the local communities, I including Arden Hills, Shoreview, New Brighton and Mounds View have been working on the development of a Reuse Plan which is compatible with these communities and ultimately a benefit to the entire region. To ensure a broad base of participation and I consensus on future reuse of the land, representatives of economic development, labor, environment, homeless, Federal, State, local officials and citizens have assisted in this process as members of the Reutilization Committee established by Congressman Bruce I Vento, I Because any reuse of this property has significant impact on Arden Hills, we would appreciate the opportunity to participate in discussions about the reuse of this site. We appreciate your taking the time to listen to our concerns and hope that you will consider I involving us in future conversations.
