We applaud you for
your efforts to look ahead in this matter. We think there is a strong need to provide for a significant
quantity of much-needed low and moderate income housing in that planning,
The people of our Twin Cities community, with the people all over our country, are suffering
from major societal problems which seem to be increasingly devastating to more and more of our
people. There are many elements to these problems, but housing is a key, We know that there is not
enough housing of reasonable quality in our metropolitan area that is available to the many people
who must live on a low or even moderate income, Furthermore, the existing housing supply that
these people can afford is overly-concentrated in l\Ilinneapolis and St. Paul, and often far from the
employment opportunities available, Suburban business itself is aware of this problem because they
often have difficulty hiring sufficient workers at their work locations.
I Planning the future land use for a federal arsenal presents a rare opportunity to do something on
a significant scale to meet real human needs. We ask that you bend every effort to this end!
I Sincerely,
Z:a~ a--
I
Rev, Eugene Orr
Moderator of Session
I.
