Lighting Maintenance I <br /> Just as with landscaping, lighting maintenance requirements may vary, . <br /> depending on the type of light fixture installed. The options for providing <br /> light fixture maintenance include the following: having city crews do the <br /> maintenance; requesting the local utility company to do it; or hiring a lighting I <br /> maintenance company. The maintenance of light fixtures will require the <br /> following: stocking of extra light poles, fixtures, and parts; replacement or <br /> repair of damaged fixtures; and replacement of light bulbs and ballasts. . <br /> Recommendation #7: GENERAL CORRIDOR LIGHTING , <br /> SPECIFICATIONS <br /> The roadway light fixtures should have the following design , <br /> characteristics: round, tapered poles; round, "hatbox" fixtures; <br /> cutoff provisions to minimize light spillover; a high-pressure-sodium -. <br /> light sources; and they should have either a dark green or dark blue <br /> finish (the final color will be selected, prior to the start of any <br /> construction). . <br />D. ORNAMENTAL OR THEME LIGHTING . <br />Besides the roadway lighting, cities along the corridor may elect to install I <br />ornamental or theme lighting in or adjacent to the corridor. Although ornamental <br />or theme lighting should be coordinated with the corridor lighting, it is not <br />feasible to specify specialty-type lighting, since the designs of these light fixtures . <br />may be based on each city's desired overall design theme, or other factors. <br />The features or characteristics, which should be considered for ornamental or I <br />theme lighting, include: size relationship of the ornamental fixtures to the <br />roadway fixtures; location of the fixtures; and light quality. <br />1. Size Relationship . <br /> Ideally, ornamental or theme fixtures should be (and most likely will be) I <br /> shorter than the street light fixtures, in order to establish a hierarchy of sizes <br /> and relationships.
