NEW BUSINESS – 5C
MEMORANDUM
DATE: April 16, 2024
TO: Parks, Trails and Recreation Committee
FROM: Jill Anderson
SUBJECT: Cummings Hitting Wall
Action Requested: Discuss whether there is PTRC interest in pursuing this project.
Background: A community member reached out and asked whether the City could re-install a
hitting wall that had been removed during renovation. Her request was as follows:
“I’m writing to you today as a neighbor and frequent user of Cummings Park. Before the park
renovation, the hard top basketball area had a hitting wall. During that remodel or maybe shortly
before that, it was removed. I am wondering if there’s any chance we can look at once again
installing a wall like this.
https://www.tenniscourtsupply.com/Economy-Flat-Series_c_242.html
The neighborhood would definitely use it for tennis, lacrosse, and pickleball drills and practice.
The area in question is very rarely used for the shuffleboard and four square that is currently
painted on the area-it could simply just be another option for that space. Thank you for your
consideration. please let me know if there are other steps I should take to have this considered.”
Attachment A: Tennis Court Supply print out with cost.
