The meeting \IElS Called to order at about 8:05 P.M. by Y""3or Cummings. <br /> All members ware present at the roll call. <br /> The minutes of the adjourned meeting held October 2nd were approved as <br /> read by the clerk. <br /> ~or Cummings rsad a letter dated October lOth from the Lake Johanna <br /> Voluntser Fire Department, also one dated October 12 from the Spring Lake Park <br /> Volunteer Fire Department, in which each proposes to fUrnish firs protection to <br /> the village for $500.00 for the period ending December 31, 1951, and for $1000.00 <br /> for the ysar 1952, contracts to be entered into before October 20th, 1951. The <br /> clerk then read a draft of a proposed fire protection contract prepared by the <br /> village attorney to bs entered into with each department, and aleo read copy of <br /> the contract proposed by the Spring Lake Park Voluntssr Fire Department at the <br /> A.pril joint meeting of the Public Safety Committee with ths two fire departments; <br /> thereafter the clerk introduced am read a draft of a proposed resolution to <br /> ~thorize the mayor and clerk to sign fire protection contracts, which after re- <br /> vision by the council, reads as follows, and by motion of DeLangs seconded by <br /> McClung was paseed unanimoualy: <br /> -Resolution" <br /> "RESOLVED that the mayor and clerk are hereby authorized to enter into <br /> contract or con tracts with the Lake Johanna Volunteer Fire Department and <br /> the Spring Laks Park Volunteer Fire Department to ~rnish fire protection to <br /> the entire village on the following terms: <br /> "1. For $300.00 to each of said departments for the term ending <br /> December 31, 1951, payable in two installments, the first of which shall be <br /> in ths amount of $230.90 payable at time of exscution of the contract and de- <br /> li very thereof, and the balancs on December 31, 1951; thereafter at the rate <br /> of $100.00 per calendar year to each department, paya@le in semi-annual in- <br /> stallments, the contract to continue in force until terminated by either <br /> party g1 ving the other thir ty (30) days' witten notice of lmch intention <br /> . prior to expiration. <br /> "2. Each department shall at its OWll expense obtain and maintain <br /> in force policies of public liability and workmen's compensation insurance <br /> covering said fire protection activities. <br /> "3. The respective contracts shall contain SQch clauses to protect <br /> the village's interest as may be agreed upon by the vi llage council with the <br /> said departments, and the contracts shall bs unifonn. <br /> - --------- <br />
