Attachment B <br />Memorandum <br />DATE: April 16, 2024 <br />TO: Parks, Trails and Recreation Committee <br />FROM: Kerri Seemann and Great River Greening <br />SUBJECT: State funding for assistance with park habitat management <br />through Great River Greening partnership <br />Background: <br />City public works staff and PTRC members have met with the non-profit habitat restoration <br />organization, Great River Greening (https://www.greatrivergreening.org/) regarding the potential <br />partnership and state funded work on invasive species control and native species establishment at <br />a number of parks in Arden Hills. There currently is funding available from an Outdoor Heritage <br />Fund grant managed by Great River Greening that could support contracted invasive species <br />control, plant / seed supply purchases and installation, the development of Natural Resources <br />Management Briefs, and as well as add to community and City led work at Hazelnut and Chatham <br />Parks. There is also funding written into an Outdoor Heritage Fund grant for a full natural area <br />restoration project at Floral Park anticipated to come online in July, 2024. <br />Action Reauested: <br />Discuss this partnership and work priorities with the PTRC, including the proposed project <br />timelines, the next steps with the City Council, the development of a cooperative agreement with <br />the City, and the requested cash match from the City for the projects. <br />Attachments• <br />1.
