PE'fITIOIi1S, RE:MO!IlSTBAJrlCES, E'lC.: Vernon Smith, VerJ1ll K. Phiffer, Norman Richardson, John Brigltede, and W~J1lI F. Sievers, all of Edge_ter Avenue, east of Lake Josephine, appeared and spOke abOl1t work needed on that street. Smi th said that last spring the neighbors got together and hauled some cinders on the street thich made it passable. They were told that the street will be bladed and given a dnst coat. !l!1ey also mentioned that "Edgewater Aveme" is also referred to as "street" and "road" but were told that "avenue" is correct. The offidal map lists it as ":road" and a resolution may have to be adopted and published to estab lish the name as "Edge_ter Avenue" to agree with the name of the portion Of that street in Arden Hills No. 3 Addi tion. STANDING COlllMITTEE REPORTS: Publio Safe1;y: Ch. Mack reported that his colllllli ttee has decided to recom- mend Mr. Jerome T. Wasielewsld, 1605 Lake Johamla BOI1levard, PRior 1586, for a,ppointment as constable to serve the unexpired term of Te1'ne K. Phiff'er, re- Signed, l.e. to Jan. 2. 1~53. !l!1ereupon by motion of Mack seoonded by lKcCl:ung he was appointed constable for said term, and sworn in immediate~ly by the clerk. '!he oouncil also approved the usual constable's $500.00 bond fo h1m~ by motion of Jl&ck leconded by lloepner. . "ok: also reported that the sheriff's office preferred a different color for our constables' uniforms, and therefore the Public Safety Committee decided upon gr8J shirts with blue trousers. "ck reported that ez-Constable Winkel's siren was smashed accidentally and is a total loss. . Otto C. Graffunder was designated to obtain data on new unde1l-the..hood sirens, type, co st. and credi t for ez-ConstableJtl1ffer's to be retlU'ned, and to report at the June 30th COUIlCil meeting. Jfack also reported that the Public Safety Committee would have no objection to the oonstables carrying their own firearms.
