CONSENT ITEM - 8.1
,-ARZEN HILLS
MEMORANDUM
DATE: July 22, 2024
TO: Honorable Mayor and City Councilmembers
Dave Perrault, City Administrator
FROM: Lucas J. Miller, Assistant Public Works Director
David Swearingen, P.E. Public Works Director / City Engineer
SUBJECT: 2024 Street Maintenance Program — Large Area Patching project
Budgeted Amount: Actual Amount: Funding Source:
$220,000 $227,354.09 Street Maintenance Fund
Council Should Consider
Motions to approve, table, or deny the following:
• Quote from GMH Asphalt in the amount of $141,472.00 for the 2024 Street
Maintenance Program Large Area Patching project on Grey Fox Rd, Red Fox Rd, and
Lake Valentine Rd.
Background/Discussion
On Tuesday July 16, Public Works staff received 3 quotes to perform the proposed large area
patching project for Grey Fox Rd., Red Fox Rd., and Lake Valentine Rd. Attachment A shows a
map of the proposed streets. Staff selected these streets for large area patching due to their
pavement condition ratings which ranged from 51 to 57, pothole patching has increased
significantly, and the City's Pavement Management Program (PMP) project schedule does not
address these streets until 2030 and 2032. Due to the high traffic volumes on these streets and the
need for a high level of traffic control, staff recommends performing this work by a contractor.
The 3 quotes received are as follows:
GMH Asphalt $141,472.00
Bituminous Roadways $147,767.59
SM Hentges and Sons $179,650.00
Staff has reviewed the quotes and recommends that the City Council approve the quote as
Attachment B with GMH Asphalt in the amount of $141,472.00 and proceed with the work.
