<br />118 <br /> <br />MIJIlUTES OF' REGULAR MEETING <br />COUNCIL OF THE VILLAGE OF' ARDEN HILLS <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />Monday, May 25, 1953 <br /> <br />The meeting was called to order at 8:01. P.M. by Mayor CUImnings. <br /> <br />Roll Call: All Council members present. There being a quorum <br />present, the Council proceeded with transactions of business as <br />follows: <br /> <br />The minutes of the council meeting of Monday, April 27, 1953 <br />were read by the clerk. Mack moved and McClung seconded a motion <br />the minutes be approved as read - carried. <br /> <br />Claims #270 - #280 inclusive were read by the clerk. Mack moved <br />and McClung seconded a motion that Claim #277 to the Schelen <br />Electric be disapproved until it isfu:rther checked and that <br />all other claims be approved - carried. <br />- - - <br /> <br />Wx. Ervin A. Peterson and Mr. John Kaplan appeared before the <br />CoUncil requesting licenses to operate the Hillside Taver~, <br />ovmed by Mr. Sam Ciresi, who vouched for the reliability of the <br />above mentioned men. A license for dancing was also requested. <br />After discussion, they were advised to fill in an application <br />and character reference;-,and - return same to the Chairman of the <br />Public Safety Committee, Mr. McClung. They were also advised <br />that there would be a special meeting of the Council Monday, <br />June 15th at g:~Q P.M. at which time they could again appear. <br /> <br />Mr. P.L. Phi1sticker of 11.31 Arden Place asked the Council if <br />there were an ordinance covering the storinp; of equipment on <br />residential property. He was advised that unless the equip- <br />ment could be classified as heavy industrial, no zoning law or <br />ordinance is in existance covering same. <br /> <br />Reports of Standing Committees: <br />Finance - No report. <br /> <br />Public Safety - Ch. McClung presented a curfew ordinance. <br />After discussion it was decicled that the Village Attorney <br />should study it. <br /> <br />. An ordinance to prevent damage by fire was submitted by Ch. <br />McClung. After discussion it was decided that the ordinance <br />be redrawn. <br /> <br />The Police Officers requested that a petty cash fund be set <br />up for the Police Dept. The request was denied. <br />
