<br />./ <br /> <br />235 <br /> <br />Council requested that Clerk request a report from the League of WOmen Voters <br />in regard to voter I s rE\@:istration before consideration of a resobtion could be <br />made by the Council authorizing such registration. <br /> <br />A letter was read by Clerk from Mr. Don Gribble in regard to the question of <br />condemnation of Art I s Place. Clerk was instructed to write to Carl end Edith Moen <br />and to the State Cppitol Credit Union requesting them to appear at a hearing before <br />the Conuncil at the June 25 meeting. <br /> <br />ATTOllN.EY~S BEPClRT: Mr. Courtney reported that he had talked with the attorney <br />. from Roseville and is prepared ',to proceed with sewer plans if the results of <br />the June 1 election so calls for it. <br /> <br />HEAL~ OFFICER: Dr. Sekhon presented a list of annual recommendations to the <br />Council which Were read by the clerk. Briefly, the recommendations Were as follows: <br />1. That an ordinance allowing burning of refun and trash only certain hours of the <br />day and a requirement of incinerators for newly constructed houses be :passed. <br />2. ~at outhouses in congested areas of the village be condemmed. <br />3. That a requirement of well depths in eXCess of 100 ft. in newly constructed <br />houses be passed. <br />4. ~at connection with the Roseville seWer be established as soon as POssible if <br />F'ailable. <br /> <br />Claims 823 thru 841 Were read by Clerk and approved by the Council. <br /> <br />~e public hearing in regard to the proposed ammendment to 1Ilhe dog ordinance <br />follOWed the regular Council meeting. <br /> <br />~e proposed dog ordinance ammendment was read by thP Clerk. <br />Several residents .'pl.I__j expressed their views in regard to the proposed <br />ammendment. <br />It was felt by ~ that the ammendm",nt Would be too restricting, that leasing of <br />dogs should not be required in Arden Hills because of the rural conditions of the <br />village. ~e cost of enfording the ordinance was brought to Council attention. <br />It was llU€;gested that our present registration of dogs be enforced to help eolve <br />the problem. ~e possibility of handling the dog problem on a neighborhood basis <br />with petitions to the Council against offensive dogs was suggested. <br />Some residents felt that the proposed ammendment was not too strict. and would <br />control stre,y and vicious dogs. <br />Dr. Sekhon. Village Health Officer recommended passing the ammendment. <br />After Council discussion following the statements made by residents, Dr.. Hoyt <br />moved and Mrs. Stromquist seconded the motion that the matter be feferred to the <br />Public Safety Committee for stu~ and that they stu~ suggestions made at this <br />hearing and prior meetings. and the cost of enforoement of the dog ordinance, and <br />that the Public Safety Committee try to find a common ground betWeen proponants end <br />OppolllllltS of the ordinance.
