OF TRE II.iI4GE OF ARDEN HILLS <br />, , JAlITJARY 26, 1~59 <br /> <br />The meeting was called to order at 8:00 P.M. by Acting Mayor \~infrey. <br />Roll Can: Present; Winfrey, Crepeau, Kennedy, Stromquist. <br />Absent; Ashbach. <br />Mr. Wm. Devitt attended the meeting for Attorney Courntey. <br /> <br />The Minutes of the January 12, 1959 meeting were read and approved. <br /> <br />Engineer Carley presented revised plans for turn around and footpath at Ridgewood Court. A group <br />.Of residents, Mrs. Klass, ~lrs. Kelsey, Mrs. Martell, Mrs. Kuehn and J.lrs. Tissell expressed dis- <br />satisfaction with the present proposed plan for the footpath. The matter was referred back to <br />~layor Ashbach, Trustee Crepeau and Engineer Carley. <br /> <br />A letter of January 26, 1959 from Attorney Courtney was read to Council. Upon motion by Stromquis4 <br />seconded by Winfrey, elected public officials were requested to inform Clerk whether or not they <br />wish to become or remain members of the Public Employees Retirement Assoc. Motion passed. <br /> <br />Upon motion by Crepeau, seconded by Kennedy a resolution (as attached) commending the Arden Hills <br />Sportsmen's Club was given council approval. Motion passed. <br /> <br />Upon motion by Kennedy, seconded by Crepeau as resolution ( as attached) commending Mr. B. J. <br />DeLange for services to Arden Hills was given council approval. Motion passed. <br /> <br />Upon motion by Crepeau, seconded by Kennedy Clerk was authorized to write to the Board of <br />Ramsey County Commissioners requesting that the Arden Hills Sportsmen's Club be granted the <br />concession stand at Johanna Beach for 1959. Motion passed. <br /> <br />A copy of a memo from Attorney COl!!'Iltney to Claude Allen, as attached was read to Council <br />:requesting Mr. Allen to introduce a bill on the proposed liquor legislation in the Senate. <br />Council referred the matter to Clerk and Treasurer to contact other representatives and senators <br />iIlrom rural Ramsey County for their support of the bill. Clerk was requested to notify the <br />secretary of Ramsey County Municipal Assoc. to try to get support on the bill from other <br />munici pali ties. <br /> <br />After examination and approval of the off sale liquor license application submitted by Grace <br />Stecker by Police Depat and Fire Dept and village attorney, motion was made by Stromquist, <br />seconded by Crepeau that an off sale liquor license be granted to Grace Stecker for the Wagon <br />Wheel Bottle Shop at 3610 N. Snelling Avenue for the period of February 1, 1959 thru December <br />31, 1959. Motion passed. <br /> <br />Upon motion by Crepeau, seconded by Stromquist, a request from Kenneth Sparks to allow the Arden <br />Hills Sportsmen's Club to hold a playground naming contest for the playground at Co. Rd. E and <br />lIa.rM>ine Avenue, as per the attached letter of January l;!l was approved, subject tp approval of <br />the village attorney. Motion passed. <br /> <br />Public Works Committee: Mr. Kennedy presented council with lists of village streets in alphebetica~ <br />.order, and also reported that he now has the village maps which he ordered from Ramsey County. <br /> <br />Public Safety Committee: Crepeau reported he had checked our insurance policy in regard to squad <br />car and finds it satisfactory. <br />Crepeau announced that he has been made a member of a committee to draw up a uniform curfew <br />ordinance for all of rural Rmnsey County by the Rmnsey County Municipal Assoc. <br />Nr. C$peau reported that the dog ordinance will be given further committee study. <br />Mr. Crepeau recommended payment from village funds for one more parks for the police department, <br />thus allowing both policemen and the police chief a parka, but did not recommend setting up a <br />clothing allowance for police officers. <br />
