<br />MINUTES lIF EEGUIAR MEETING <br />COUNCIL OF THE VILLAGE OF ARDEN HILLS <br />Monday, April 13, 1959 <br /> <br />The meeting was called to order at 8:00 P.M. by Mayor Ashbach. <br />Mayor Ashbach read a letter of resignation from Trustee L. H. Winfrey, <br />resignation effective immediately due to personal obligations. <br />Roll Call: Present; Ashbach, Crepeau, Kennedy, stromquist. <br />Absent; None. <br /> <br />The minutes of the March 14, 1959 meeting were read and approved as amended. <br /> <br />~. A.L. Gaughan inquired about status of his request for rezoning of land <br />at Cleveland and Co. Rd. D. Clerk to check with Attorney and inform Mr. <br />Gaughan of proper procedure for rezoning in this case. <br /> <br />Mr. Harry Skooglun objected to the vacation of part of Glanarden Road <br />which was vacated by the Council at the last meeting. He felt it would <br />cause those using the playgEound at Arden Hills #2 to park on Arden Place <br />and the rest of Glenarden Road. Several residents of the area around the <br />playground voiced objection to the vacation because of the parking problem <br />it might cause. Maps showing proposed plans for playground and parking <br />lot were shown. After considerable discussion, Mayor Ashbach stated he <br />w ill arrange a meeting for the residents concerned and try to work out a <br />satisfactory solution. The resolution to start any project in the playgrouna <br />is to be held in abeyance until a suitable plan is arrived at. <br /> <br />The G'Arden Seed and Weed Garden Club announced they would like to plant <br />a tree in the Arden Hills 2 playground on Arbor Day. Mayor Ashbach referred <br />them to Ken ~parks, Recreation Representative for Arden Hills. <br /> <br />Monroe Kronstedt ,Arden Hills Civil Defense Director-described the.. present <br />civil defense program in village and ..stated he will need about $75.00 above <br />present budget allowance now and will need additional money next fall for <br />uniferma, badges etc. Trustee Crepeau stated he will try to take the amount <br />needed from the Public Safety budget. <br /> <br />Engineer Carley submitted plat plans for Shorewood Hills 7 <br />and reco~edned grading plans as submitte~. Plat referred <br />Welfare Gommittee. <br /> <br />Finance Committee: The monthly budget was submitted by Clerk. <br /> <br />and eoplained <br />to Public <br /> <br />" <br /> <br />Public Safety Committee: Mayor Ashbach read a letter of resignation from <br />Jack Wolf, village poligeman, effective May 1, 1959. Council requested <br />Public Safety Committee to recommend a replacement. <br /> <br />~. Crepeau reporbed on the fine job done by the Lake Johanna Vol. Fire <br />Dept in the rural Ramsey fire of April 7. Council. requested Clerk to write <br />a letter commending the fire department for their fine work. <br /> <br />The police .department reported that New Brighton and Ramsey County Sherriff 's <br />office is ~olicing the Mounds View High School grounds at the close of school <br />hours. <br /> <br />Public ~orks Gommittee: Trustee Kennedy suggested that possibly a wider <br />strip on village roads.should be. oiled to improve outer edge of road. Mayor <br />Ashbach felt we should not do too much improving of roads where sewer is <br />to be installed in the near future. <br />
