BOLTON Attachment A It <br />lU1 & M E N K <br />,-SIQEN HILLS <br />Arden Oaks Park & Freeway Park Improvements <br />Playground Design Options Open House — Event Summary <br />City Hall — Arden Hills, MN <br />Bolton & Menk: Bryce Shearen, CPRE <br />City of Arden Hills: David Swearingen, Lucas Miller, and Matthew Johnson <br />Date: 8108124 <br />Time: 5:30 PM — 7 PM <br />Playground design boards were set up in the council chambers at city hall for the community to vote on. <br />Each park had four different design options that fit within the existing playground containers. While <br />playground equipment designs have many variables, the designs provided are within the budgeted <br />amount and incorporate elements heard from the engagement survey (i.e. height of structure, different <br />elements at each park, elements for older children, climbing/rope elements, and swings). Paper vote <br />ballots were available as well as an online form for open house attendees to utilize to vote. Staff was <br />also available at the event to help answer questions. <br />The event was successful with getting feedback from many different people from all age groups. <br />Overall, twenty-one responses were received. <br />Additional themes from open house attendees that was heard: <br />• Would like to have seen more shade options <br />• Utilize one of the swing bays as an ADA swing <br />• Appreciate the color palettes that are lighter in color <br />• Residents appreciate the playground equipment being updated <br />• Consider a non-traditional play structure at Freeway Park <br />Additional comments heard: <br />• Resident was hoping to see a nature play option <br />• Resident did not want to see bright colors <br />• Resident would like to see more swings if possible <br />• Resident would like to see something other than wood -fiber surfacing <br />• Resident would have liked to see the playground equipment container size increase to <br />accommodate more equipment <br />PLAYGROUND EQUIPMENT OPTIONS: <br />Eight options in total. Four options for each park. <br />
