In order to getaway from a continual breaking up,
however, the stub has b..nadded &0 that once you go thrcugh.a
street and it' 5 been rough graded over again that will be the
end of it. How the village intends to finance any permanent
improvements to the streettheteafter is not yet known because tho
Council has not come to that point but they.have been setting
aside enough in their Road and Sridge Fund for certain maintenanc.
of regular streets. One reasen y6uprobably don't want to go into
full paved streets or things of that nature is that you don't know
what other illlprovementsmighteventually. come in. But it's my
understanding from sitting in with the Council before that what
they will do and what will be done here when the contractor gets
. done the earth.!s compacted, the street will not be continually
,
dug up and certain treatment wiUbe given to it out of the regulaI'
maintenanceoperat1on of the Council. If the people want anything BlOre
than that, you can al....ays petition fo.r a paved street by coming to
your Counclland agreeing to pay for it.
M\ . JONES: I have had several people call my home as to the
high cost of the assessments and .I think as compared to Roseville
I think it would be well for you to compare ROleville where part
of it went on general taxes.
kR. POPOVICH: This is difficult to do. People say here it's
$10.50 and we heard that somebody else got it for $6.50 and somebody
else fer $6.25. You must always be careful when you compare
between suburban villages. For example, is the terrain and topography
. of the land the same, because this enters into the costs too. For
exallp le, dewn InNewport where we were worit.ing on sollie material
about a year ago, it's solid roek. There the costs ran over
$14.00 a foot. Over in Ros.ville it'.. down at $6.05- and $6.25 but
-----
