- #!~f.~"i'f~~~
-<~-~
. benefited people - bring Ubtfcre the Council... Ir.call ..r11u
this year I got interested in this as far as my own area was
concerned and I took a petition arOUnd our area and got around
. . . .
35% of the signature s of the people. I wondered whether we're
going fast enough with this and why that area isn't included.
MAYOR ASHBACH: That area by necessity has to have a trunk
through Arden Hills Nt:'. 2 and down Hamline Avenue and, ofcouUe,
. . .. .
at the time we were talking about Arden ~ills I, Roseville was
getting ready to let contracts and we had to let them know
immediately if we would go ahead en the enlarging of the Ro..ville
sewer so yeur area and all the ethers on the east aide of the l.ake
could be joined to it. At that time there was interest in Arden
HUla 3. I for one was opposed to goeastef the lake because
. we know of the tremendous cost involved and I for one am reluctant
te push something where it will put a great burden on the people
unless they really want it sc we went with ftJ:den Hills 3ror the
immediate service.
m. WILLIAMS: I get roughly 35% of the signatures and by
no means did Igoto all of the people and I think I could have
gotten 50% if I had pushed it and with that preponderance of that
majority I wondered why it hadn't gone ahead.
MAYOR ASHBl<CHI That's part of the reason and 1'11 take some
of the responsibility and I suppose all of us on the Council should
because we haven't pushed it particularly. I hesitate to push
things like that because I know there are other illlll'lediate areas that
should go ahead and if you go too fast people think you're trying
. to steam roller and trying to push it on them.
m. WILLIAMS: I think I speak for the majority of the people
I have talked with in Arden 1 that we would like to urge toe Council
