.

.

32

.

gp'. SHORT: One house there lays to the north - northerly end
of Jensen that lays considerably below the street.
~R. LA NASA: That's probably me.
I.R. SHORT: That is shown to receive first floor draina~e

only. I believe your home lays some ten feet below the street

grade. Is that right?

VR.

L! NN,A: About that.

~~
I l\.

SHeRI: It was our recommendation and our conclusion after

studying the costs that it would be better to provide first floor

drainage for that home with a reduced assessment than to recommend

to the Council that the entire area should face the cost of going

deep enough to provide basement drain for one home so located.

~R. LA NASA: Is there a possibility of a sump pump to pick

. up the sewage?

ThR. SHORT: ~hat do you have on your lower level - any kitchens?

MR. LA NASA: No.

M~. BANISTER: Toilet?

'$,. LA NASA: I have a toilet about 4 feet lower than the area

yo~e talking about.
VR. SHORT: Lower than the first floor?

1m. L/, Ni,\SA: Yes.

;;TI. SHORT: I be 1 ieve that could be taken care of with a

shallo',,! connection. As far as your lower floor is concerned for
floor water and if it's only wash water, it would be my recommendation
you should install a sump pump as is done in many homes and pump
it up to your sewer connection from that point. If you have a kitchen

.

then any type of enclosed sump pump which wold be odor free is quite
expensive. It would be a matter of several hundred dollars.
