Attachment A <br />CONSENT ITEM — 8L <br />-AII�)E_N HILLS <br />MEMORANDUM <br />DATE: December 11, 2023 <br />TO: Honorable Mayor and City Councilmembers <br />Dave Perrault, City Administrator <br />FROM: Julie Hanson, Assistant to the City Administrator/City Clerk <br />SUBJECT: Interim Ordinance (Moratorium) Temporarily Prohibiting the Issuance of New Tobacco <br />Licenses <br />Budgeted Amount: Actual Amount: Funding Source: <br />Council Should Consider the Followiny- Options <br />Motion to approve, table, or deny the following: <br />• Interim Ordinance 2023-017 Temporarily Prohibiting the Issuance of New Licenses to Sell <br />Tobacco in the City of Arden Hills. <br />Background <br />At its meeting on November 27, 2023, the City Council enacted an interim ordinance (moratorium) <br />prohibiting the issuance of new tobacco licenses in Arden Hills. <br />City staff has worked with the City Attorney regarding the attached Ordnance 20230-017 and staff <br />recommends the Council consider formal acknowledgment of this Interim Ordinance. Please note the <br />moratorium does not affect existing businesses that hold a license; however, no new tobacco licenses <br />will be issued until further notice.
