F. Kennedy, <br />Administrative Clerk Lorraine Stromquist and Deputy Clerk <br />Florence Honan. <br /> <br />Ex-Mayor KennedL..::....l...etro Matters <br />Mr. Kennedy commented on his job on the Metro Transit Committee, has been <br />very interesting, but the main job Is to get a bill through, which is <br />quite an ambitious bi I I and the Metro Sewer Bill will probably be in the <br />hopper aga in. He requested the Counc I I to do a Iii nits power to encourage <br />legislators to push these two bl lis as It is very possible for them to <br />get lost because of the Metro Government plan which would take over the <br />authority of both of these matters: he believes Metro Government wil I be <br />a long time materializIng and thinks it would be wise ta get these other <br />two bi lIs operating until Metro Bovernment becomes effective. <br /> <br />Mayor Nethercut stated his appreciation of the comments, agreed with him <br />and thanked him. <br /> <br />1967 Vlllaqe Appointments <br />Administrative Clerk Lorraine StromquIst read the list of recommended <br />appointments. Trustee Crepeau informed the Council of the background <br />of Gordon H. Fickett, Jr., a new part time police officer. He also stated <br />that Mr. Fickett, Jr. is 25 years old, about 6' 4" tall and lives at 4000 <br />North Lexington Avenue. He Is available to work week ends and paft time <br />days. He will start immediately, but wi l~ ride with other officers untit <br />acclimated.t..~ ~~~/' "'1 ~, <br /> <br />Administrative Clerk Lorraine Stromquist read the bid received from the <br />New Brighton Bulletin to continue as the Village's official newspaper - <br />this was the only bid received. Trustee Crepeau expressed his opinion that <br />the rates were comparable with other suburban papers. <br /> <br />Trustee Crepeau moved, seconded by Trustee Hol lenhorst, that the appoint- <br />ments be approved as attached; motion carried. <br /> <br />-.81967 Committee Appointments <br />~ministrative Clerk Lorraine Stromquist read the list of recommended <br />Committees members and Chairmen. Mayor Nethercut stated hatAl~~?ul~ rather <br />, y~ve a resident as Chairman of a Committee than aA ff~~, WIth <br />~~ official to act as liaIson between designated Co ittees and the Council <br />and the Committees have been set up in this manner. <br /> <br />Trustee Olmen moved, seconded by Trustee Crepeau, that the Committees be <br />approved as attached; motion carried. <br /> <br />Mayor Nethercut stated that Robert McNlesh will be Chairman of the Public <br />Works Committee and also the Water Study Committee. He recommended that <br />the Public Works Committee operate under a temporary chairman for Mr. <br />McNiesh while the Water Study Committee is activa. <br /> <br />-1- <br />
