<br />MINUT?S OF SPECIAL COUNCIL MEETING <br />VillAGE OF ARDEN HillS <br />Tuesday, January 2, 1968 - 8:00 p.m. <br /> <br />Call to Order <br />Acting Mayor Crepeau called the meeting to order at 8:07 p.m. <br /> <br />Swearjn~ in of New Offlc~ <br />Attorney Courtney administered the oath of office to Dr. Robert W. <br />Bjorndaht as Mayor; E. Gray Henderson as Councilman; Douglas M. <br />Barthany as Justice of the Peace. <br /> <br />.. <br /> <br />Roll Call <br />Present - Mayor Robert W. Bjorndahl, Councilmen Crepeau, Olmen and <br />Henderson. <br />Absent - Councilman Elect John Hollenhorst <br />Also Present - Attorney Vincent P. Courtney, Treasurer Worth G. Read, <br />Administrative Clerk Lorraine Stromquist and Deputy Clerk <br />Florence Honan. <br /> <br />Comments from Mayor Bjorndahl <br />Mayor Bjorndahl personally thanked outgoing Mayor Nethercut for <br />his part in the progress of Arden Hills, and also thanked the council <br />members, committee members and all who served tor the village. He <br />stated that Arden Hills Is fortunate that each member Is Interested <br />in the benefit to the village and not personal gain. <br /> <br />Mayor Bjorndahl enumerated three objectives, namely: <br />!. A municipal water system, to be extended as the people <br />request the service. <br />Z. A village owned maintenance system. <br />3. An active Civic Center Committee through which he hopes <br />to see some development. <br /> <br />Vllla~e Standing Appointments <br />Clerk lorraine Stromquist presented bids submitted by the New Brighton <br />Bulletin and Suburban life for consideration of desIgnation as the <br />official village paper. The Council decided that both bids were <br />essentially the same. <br /> <br />Mayor Bjorndahl expressed disappointment In past coverage of village <br />news by the New Brighton Bulletin and telt the vIllage paper should <br />be a means of communication. <br /> <br />Ted Lillte of the New Brighton Bulletin was present and assured the <br />Mayor that this will be corrected. . <br /> <br />Councilman Crepeau moved, seconded by Councilman Olmen that the New <br />Brighton Bulletin be designated as Arden Hills official newspaper <br />for !968; motion carried. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />Councilman Olmen moved approval of the standing appointments as <br />follows: <br />Acting Mayor <br />Council-Committee liaison: <br />PublIc Safety <br />Planning Commission <br />Parks & Recreation <br />Finance Committee <br />Public WOI-ks <br />Civic Center Committee <br />Administrative Clerk <br />Village Treasurer <br />Deputy Clerk <br />Village Attorney <br />Vllfage Consulting Engineer <br />Village Health Officer <br />Ass't.
