<br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />.. <br /> <br />" <br /> <br />~ <br />~~ILLS <br /> <br />Approved: September 12, 2005 <br />CITY OF ARDEN HILLS, MINNESOTA <br />SPECIAL CITY COUNCIL MEETING <br />AUGUST 19, 2005, 7:30 A.M. <br />CITY HALL COUNCIL CHAMBERS, 1245 WEST HIGHWAY 96 <br /> <br />PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE <br /> <br />SPECIAL CITY COUNCIL MEETING CALL TO ORDERlROLL CALL <br /> <br />Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, Mayor Beverly Aplikowski called to order the <br />Special City Council meeting at 7:39 a,m, <br /> <br />Present: <br /> <br />Mayor Beverly Aplikowski, Councilmembers Gregg Larson, Lois Rem, <br />and Brenda Holden, <br /> <br />Absent: <br /> <br />Councilmember David Grant <br /> <br />Also present were City Administrator, Michelle Wolfe; City Attorney, Jerry Filla; and <br />Finance Director/Treasurer, Murtuza Siddiqui, <br /> <br />Ms, Wolfe stated that she was recommending that the City Council approve a motion to <br />terminate the employment of Sandra Berres, Finance and Human Resources Assistant. She <br />outlined the reasons for her recommendation of termination and the activities that led to the <br />discovery and the actions taken to investigate two "missing checks", Ms, Wolfe stated that after <br />reviewing the checks in question with the Ramsey County Sheriffs Department, the City <br />Auditor, and City Attorney, it was very clear that Ms. Berres prepared and altered the checks that <br />were to be forwarded to Ramsey County Public Works for the purchase of fuel into her name and <br />cashed them at City and County Employee's Credit Union, <br /> <br />Ms, Wolfe stated that according to the City of Arden Hills Personnel Policy, the City will <br />administer disciplinary procedures which incorporate the principles of just cause, Evidence of <br />just cause will provide the basis for all disciplinary action. Cause for discipline and discharge <br />includes "Dishonesty in the performances of duties," <br /> <br />Ms, Wolfe stated that on August 10, 2005, Ms, Berres was notified of the intent to recommend <br />termination and was offered the opportunity for a hearing in front of the City Council. <br /> <br />MOTION: Councilmember Larson moved and Councilmember Holden seconded a <br />motion to terminate Ms, Sandra Berres' employment with the City, The <br />motion carried unanimously (4-0), <br /> <br />Mayor Aplikowski adjourned the Special City Council Meeting at 7:43 a,m, <br /> <br />\IMetro- inet. us\ardenhills IAdmin\CouncillMinutes\Special\2005\08-19-05 Approved.doc <br />
