Area #8: Round Lake
1970 Population: 73
Projected Population: 829
Total Required Acreage for Parks: 8 Acres
1975 Existing Park Acreage: 0 Acres
Additional Park Acreage Needed: 8 Acres
Acreage Available Through Dedication: 11 Acres
Proposed Purchase Acreage:
As with most Arden Hills neighborhoods, the area surrounding
Round Lake is isolated from other neighborhoods by a series of
major highways and freeways. A large county park originally
proposed for this area (see enclosed copy of proposal) was
rejected by the Arden Hills City Council in August, 1975 .
Thus, in compliance with the official Parks and Recreation
Department Comprehensive Park Report, a city park of approxi-
mately eight acres should be developed. A potential site for
111 this park is in a low lying area directly south of Round Lake.
The potential site would be contiguous to the area immediately
surrounding Round Lake which is owned by the U. S. Fish and
Wildlife Service and is designated as a "waterfowl production
area. "
