Area # 9: Village Hall
1970 Population: 131
Projected Population: 3, 215
Total Required Acreage for Parks: 32 Acres
1975 Existing Park Acreage: 20 Acres
Additional Park Acreage Needed: 12 Acres
Acreage Available Through Dedication: 19 Acres
Proposed Purchase Acreage:
The Village Hall Neighborhood (Area #9) is located in the north
central portion of residential Arden Hills . Although among the
least populated areas in 1970 (131 residents according to the
1970 Census) , its growth potential is substantial. In fact,
this area has been projected to have the largest maximum popula-
tion of all Arden Hills neighborhoods (3,215) when growth is
complete.
The varied topography and the land use designated by the 1974
Comprehensive Plan dictate a mixture of low and moderate density
residential development for Area #9 . The Pemtom development in
the northeast section of the neighborhood is increasing the
populatio - - rapid rate with the current (1976) level esti-
mated at 60S
Floral Park is the only existing park in the Village Hall
Neighborhood. When developed, this 20 acre park will be adequate
to serve the residents of the southern portion of the neighbor-
hood. However, additional acreage will be required to provide
recreational facilities for the anticipated residential develop-
ment in the northern portion. To date (1976) , no additional
land has been acquired for that purpose although the recommenda-
tion of the Parks and Recreation Committee to develop a 10 acre
park in the lower half of the triangle bordered by Snelling,
Highway 10 and Highway 96 has been approved by City Council.
