The 40 acre County park ( Tony Schmidt Park )
is located on the northern edge of the neighborhood and is not
within 1 /2 mile of the majority of residents . Thus , the total
area required for parks cannot be met by the County nark .
With this in mind , the Parks and Recreation Department
recommended , and the Arden Hills City Council approved in 1975 ,
IIIthe acquisition of over II acres located in the southern part of
the neighborhood . The land acquired has long been used by resi -
dents , particularly younger residents , as an unofficial recrea-
tional area , and is a valuable addition to the Arden Hills park
system.
Present Park Property ( 1976 )
I ) Sampson Park on Lake Lane ( I acre ) .
2 ) Fite Barn Triangle on New Brighton Road and Jerrold
Avenue ( 2 . 83 acres ) .
3) Tony Schmidt County Park on Lake Johanna Boulevard ( 40 acres ) .
4 ) Hazel Nut Park on New Brighton Road ( 11 .66 acres ) .
