History Continued <br />With Council and Park and Recreation Committee approval, <br />the first phase of development was implemented in the fall of <br />1974. Circulars were passed out to all the homes in the <br />neighborhood inviting everyone to the first of two planned <br />tree planting days. With neighborhood help, approximately 20 <br />trees and shrubs were added to the border. Bethel College also <br />donated about 25 large spruce trees and soft maples to add to <br />the year round screening. Some iris and spring bulbs were <br />donated and planted for spring color before the shrubs are able <br />to fill out the border.
