ARDEN HILLS CITY COUNCIL — NOVEMBER 25, 2024 3 <br />Senator Marty stated his budget relies on Medicaid funds and noted the feds pay a little over <br />half. He explained he was counting on this funding and if it was lost, premiums would have to go <br />up or the State would have to step in. <br />Councilmember Rousseau congratulated Representative Moller for being named chair to the <br />Ethics Committee and Public Safety Committee. She thanked Senator Marty and Representative <br />Moller for representing this community well. <br />Councilmember Fabel stated he was disappointed with the fact the legislature did not approve a <br />bonding bill this year. He asked if action would be taken on a bonding bill at the beginning of the <br />2025 legislative session. <br />Representative Moller commented she could not say, but understood people wanted that to <br />happen. <br />Councilmember Fabel questioned if affordable housing would continue to be a priority for the <br />legislature in 2025. <br />Representative Moller reported the State invested $1 billion in housing and noted housing would <br />always be a high priority for the State. <br />Senator Marty explained he understood the needs for housing in the State were critical and noted <br />the housing chairs in both the Senate and House also understood this concern. <br />Mayor Grant thanked Senator Marty and Representative Moller for their efforts on behalf of the <br />community. He indicated he appreciated all of their efforts on the fire station. He thanked <br />Representative Moller for working with him on sewer and water issues. He stated Arden Hills <br />was a small community and did not have budget for lobbyists. He asked that Senator Marty and <br />Representative Moller continue to advocate for a trail along old Highway 10. <br />Senator Marty indicated this was a Safe Routes to School trail segment and noted he understood <br />this was an important initiative for the community. <br />6.
