Call To Order <br /> Mayor Aplikowski called the meeting to order at 4:50 p.m. Present: Councilmembers <br /> David Grant, Brenda Holden, Gregg Larson and Lois Rem (anticipated arrival at 5:00 <br /> p.m. noted/or Councilmember Rem). <br /> Staff present: Administrator, Michelle Wolfe; Director of Community <br /> Development/Assistant Administrator, Aaron Parrish; Operations & Maintenance <br /> Director, Thomas J. Moorc; Deputy Clerk/Human Resources Director, Cynthia Young; <br /> Planner, Peter Hellegers and Finance Director, Murtuza Siddiqui. <br /> Mayor Aplikowski introduced newly appointed Finance Director Murtuza Siddiqui. <br /> . 2. Ramsev County Sheriff's Presentation <br /> Ramsey County Sheriff Bob Fletcher presented an overview of the services Ramsey <br /> County Sheriffs Department provides to the residents of Arden Hills which included a <br /> training unit, canine unit, water & county parks patrol. He introduced scveral members of <br /> the department. He noted that the 2005 contract proposal is less than 2004 mainly due to <br /> the transfer of deputies from the jail unit to the "street patrol" in less time than past <br /> practice. He also said he anticipates a long term reduction in salary costs which may <br /> offsct some costs to all seven contract cities. <br /> Undersheriff George Altendorfer continued the Ramsey County presentation of several <br /> other services the Sheriffs Department provides Arden Hills as a contract member city. <br /> He noted thc persol111el as 5.41 patrol deputies, a Mounds View High School Resource <br /> Officer, and a percentage of other services totaling 7.60 officers assigned to Arden Hills. <br /> Lt. Joe Paget explained services the Ramsey County Sheriffs Department provides <br /> including as Volunteer Program, Crime Prevention Services, Community Oriented <br /> Policing, Community Affairs Officers, Neighborhood Watch and Business Watch <br /> Program, Premise Survey Program, Burglary Follow-up Program, Problem Property <br /> Projects, Crime Free Multi-Housing Program, Knox Lock Box Plan, Identity Theft <br /> . <br /> \ \Earth \Admin\Council\Minutes\ W orksession \2004\01- 20-04.doc <br />
