ARDEN HILLS CITY COUNCIL - OCTOBER 30, 2000 12
. Councilmember Larson asked whether this is considered confidential, and whether it is pending.
Mr. Filla stated the City appealed the decision and requested an informational statement to be
submitted by December I. Mayor Probst suggested the Council continue a closed session to
discuss the matter at the close of the meeting.
Councilmember Aplikowski requested that staff provide an updated code list from the Fire
Department.
Councilmember Aplikowski stated the Ramsey County League of Local Governments met
recently at which a discussion was held with School Superintendents from surrounding areas.
She encouraged Councilmembers to attend upcoming meetings of the League.
Councilmember Aplikowski stated she would wish the City to provide funding for NLC
membership if possible. She added that extremely helpful information is available through tbe
NLC Mayor Probst stated the City has been a member in the past, and it could be discussed if
someone on the Council would bc interested in representing the City. He added it is a financial
issue as membership must be budgeted,
Councilmember Rem stated the Cable Commission is producing anniversary videos for Little
Canada and Falcon Heights, as well as programs on old City Halls, including the Arden Hills
City Hall.
. Councilmember Rem stated the Northwest Youth and Family Services has had a busy month
with a Board meeting, Development Committee meeting, and a benefit at the Landmark Center
in 8t. Paul which was very successful.
Mayor Probst stated he had discussed the Cable Commission budget with Mr. Lynch, adding the
Commission is digging into its reserve fund to balance the budget. He added the Council might
want to discuss this at some point.
Councilmember Larson stated he was unsure how an organization like the Cable Commission
could have $24,000 in capital assets and $1,5 million in unrestricted net assets.
Mayor Probst commended Mr. Stafford and his staff on a recent letter received from a resident
commending them on their response to a problem.
Mayor Probst referred to a note about the Fire Department's interested in moving TCAAP
monies into their relief fund. He added this is not appropriate and will create an expectation with
regard to future growth which is false. He noted there is an on-going argument with regard to
those funds and how they should be used.
Mayor Probst stated he was delighted that the ground breaking finally took place, adding he was
. encouraged by the number of people who attended the event.
~
