. MEETING MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL WORKSESSION
MONDAY, NOVEMBER 20,2000
4:45 P.M. - CITY HALL, 4364 WEST ROUND LAKE ROAD
CALL TO ORDER
Acting Mayor Gregg Larson called the meeting to order at 4:53 p.m. Those
present included Councilmembers Beverly Aplikowski and Lois Rem.
Councilmember Grant arrived at 4:55 p.m. Mayor Probst arrived at 5:15 p.m.
Staff present included Public Works Director, Dwayne Stafford; Parks and
Recreation Director, Tom Moore; Planner, Jennifer Chaput; and Recording
Secretary, Sheila Stowell.
City Administrator Joe Lynch and City Accountant/Treasurer Terry Post were
both absent.
Also present was David Hammernick of the Minnesota National Guard.
COUNCIL COMMENTS
. Councilmember Rem reported on the most recent Operations and Finance Committee
meeting, which she and Councilmember Grant had attended. A result of that meeting, at
which Gene Ranieri, Executive Director of the Association of Metropolitan
Municipalities was the featured guest speaker, the Committee would like to recommend
that the City Council aggressively pursue legislation regarding general state aid formulas
as they relate to the City of Arden Hills. Chairperson, Mark Kelliher, also would like to
initiate meetings of the Task Force for the proposed Public Works/Parks Maintenance
Facility.
Councilmember Rem asked Planner Chaput if all Councilmembers had received a copy
of the November 29, 2000 Web site informational packet. Ms. Chaput responded that
only the Task Force members had received the information, as it was of a preliminary
nature.
Councilmember Aplikowski expressed her concerns regarding the City's existing
committees and task forces in general, and a need to further expand the Communications
Committee to pursue additional communication tools, exclusive of the City's newsletter.
Acting Mayor Larson noted it might be beneficial for the City's Website Task Force to
meet annually to review the web site content.
Councilmember Grant commented and concurred with Councilmember Rem regarding
recommendations of the Operations and Finance Committee and proposed lobbying
.
