ARDEN HILLS CITY COUNCIL — JANUARY 13, 2025 21
MOTION: Councilmember Monson moved and Councilmember Holden seconded a
motion to approve Planning Case 24-018 and the adoption of Resolution 2025-
008 for a Vacation of Drainage and Utilitv Easement for the property at 1700
Highway 96 West. A roll call vote was taken. The motion carried (5-0).
B. Resolution 2025-009 Relating to the 2025 City Council Liaisons for
Commissions and Committees and Mayor Pro-Tem
Assistant to the City Administrator/City Clerk Hanson stated at its December 9 work session,
the City Council discussed liaison assignments to the City's Committees and Commissions.
During that discussion, Council consensus was to remove the Council liaison for Communications
and staff received direction on the remaining appointments. Following that work session, staff
became aware of a conflict regarding potential appointments to the Lake Johanna Fire Department
(LJFD) liaisons; therefore, staff is seeking direction from Council regarding those appointments.
Assistant to the City Administrator/City Clerk Hanson reported the City's other various
commission and committee assignments as previously agreed upon at the December work
session:
Councilmember Monson indicated she supported the appointments as discussed. However, she
noted her name should have been included on the Fire Relief Association, as she previously
agreed to this position.
Councilmember Holden asked that her name be removed from the PTRC as she did not believe
she would be a good fit for this committee. In addition, she did not believe the Yellow Ribbon
committee should be included on this list.
Councilmember Rousseau stated she did not understand how the Yellow Ribbon was accepting
individuals and she supported having the Yellow Ribbon removed from this list.
The Council was in agreement with the recommendation to remove the Beyond the Yellow
Ribbon City -appointed representative.
Councilmember Holden commented the Yellow Ribbon does not have events but rather supports
individuals in need of assistance.
Councilmember Monson indicated Councilmember Holden was interested in the Lake Johanna
Board of Directors and noted there may be an opportunity to see if there was a way to rearrange
the timeframe, or shorten the meetings.
Councilmember Holden commented she has not been good enough to serve on a committee for
the past two years and this was bothersome to her. She indicated the biasness for the past two
years was concerning to her. She questioned why she was good enough to serve on a committee
now.
Councilmember Weber asked if Councilmember Holden just asked to get off of a committee.
Councilmember Holden reported this was the case, noting she did not believe she was a good fit
for the PTRC.
