Last
October, staff received feedback from the majority of the Council to move the discussion for the
2025 State of the City Address till after the 1st of the year. The SOTC process generally begins
with the Communications Coordinator attending a series of work session meetings. However,
with the current vacancy in this position, I am bringing forward to at a minimum discuss a
potential date and location that would allow for some preliminary planning to begin.

Altogether, this is about a three to four month process from start to finish. The list below
highlights the work session meetings that lead up to the SOTC:

o Meeting #1: Discuss setting a date, location, marketing/outreach, topics, etc.
o Meeting #2: Council members review the final topics, assign presenters, and
determine the Q&A format or any other notable changes or updates to the
annual event.
o Meeting #3: Council members provide feedback on the first draft of the SOTC
presentation.

Council should discuss general timing of this event and give direction if there is interest in
setting a date and location. Planning for the 2025 SOTC topics and outreach would then be
brought back at a future work session for additional discussion.
