Woodburn moved, seconded by Wingert, that Councl i approve the Minutes of the Regular Councl Meeting of August ii, 1975, as submitted, and the Minutes of the Spuclal Counci I Meeting of August 18, 1975, as amended. Motion carr ed unanimously. BUSINESS FROM THE FLO<)R Mr. Oliver Kronholm, Business Adainlstrator, Minnesota Baptist Confer- ence, expressed appre~iation for Village services rendered to Minnesota Baptist Conference, alld tendered a check to the City as a token of gr"ati- tu de. Mayor Crepeau accepted the donation and thanked Mr. Kronholm, on be- half of the City of Ai'den Hi 115. REPORT OF VILLAGE PARKS AND RECREATION DIRECTOR JOHN BUCKLEY Status Report on Park Site Impro~ern~~ Buckley reviewed his memo of 8-25':75, re status of development of Inger- son, Freeway and Perry Parks; advising th"athe has received three quo"tes to move the light poles at P~rry Park to the new hockey rink location - lowest bid is $1900. Buckley said an alternate to moving the poles, would be to leave the existing poles where they are, and Instal I 30' steel poles (using the existing lignt fixtures); steel poles would be instal lad on concrete pedestals at an additIonal $350 cost. Buckley recommended the installation of the 30' steel poles, stating that the existIng wooden poles may be needed In the future lighting plans of that portion of the park - no plans at the present, or possibly in next 5 years, to light this upper portion of the park. . After discussion, Courci I authorized Buckley to cut existing wooden poles to t~e desired 3D' height, and to move them to the new location, as per pian. Buckley estimated that poles would be moved within it months. In discussion of the tree planting program, Buckley recommended that the $750 balance, budgeted for tree planting this year, be used to plant largsr trees (from Bethel College) at Perry and Freeway Parks (renting tree spade from Rosevl lie). Buckley explained that originally this money was Intended for the purchase and planting of about 1000 seedlings (30~-40~ each), but It is too lata to piant seedlings this year - could purchase the seedlIngs now for planting next spring. Councl I authorized Buckley to proceed with the planting of frees that he feels appropriate at this time, as long as total Parks Budget this year wi IJ not be exceeded. Tree Inspector Buckley reviewed his ~emo of 8-25-75 re extension of employment of Tree Inspector Mike Sllnde. . Crichton moved, seconded by Woodburn, that Councl I approve the extension for employment of Tree Inspector Mike Sllnde to September 15, 1975. Motion carried unanlmcusly. Proposed Highway .~partment Letter Buckley referred Council to draft o~ proposed letter to Highway Depact- ment re roadway landscaping.
