<br />Minu~os of Regular Council Meeting <br />Page ~wo <br /> <br />May 27. 1975 <br /> <br />Certified Tree Inspector for Arden Hil Is. to make the June survey, <br />and asked Buckley to prepare a plan for Implementation of treatment <br />and removal of diseased trees, for Council consideration on June 9th. <br />(Buckley was requested to check new legislation re possible funding.) <br /> <br />Three~quarter Ton PICkU~ Truck <br />Buckley reported that I 75 Budget provides for purchase of a 3/4 ton <br />truck with plow, for Parks and Recreation Department use; would also <br />be used by Public Works Department to plow cul-de-sacs etc. ' <br /> <br />After discussion, Counci I authorized Buckley to collaborate with <br />Johansen In preparing specifications for a 3/4 ton,4-wheel drive, <br />pickup truck with plow, for consideration by Councl I on June 9th. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />Committee Recommendations re Park Sites <br />Buckley reported that the Parks and Recreation Committee walked the <br />area southwest of the Village Hall (between Highway 10. Hlgh~a~ 96 and <br />east and west of Snelling Avenue) at its May meeting. and suggests <br />that a 10-acre site in the southern portion of the triangle. west of <br />Snelling Avenue, between Highways 10 and 96 Is the most suitable for <br />aVI llage neighborhood park. <br /> <br />Crichton noted that this proposed 10-acre park is In line with the <br />Comprehensive Park Plan. providing the balance of the ~park acres <br />(Floral Park - 22 acres) for the estimated 3.215 anticipated popu- <br />lation in this north central portion of the Vii lage. <br /> <br />Buckley reported that the Parks Committee asks Councl I consideration <br />of the five items noted in the Minutes of the Parks and Recreation <br />Comm,ttee Meeting of May 13th re the Ramsey County Open Space pro~osed <br />Round Lake park and trai I , <br /> <br />Summer Maintenance Employees <br />Buckiey reported that he desires to hire Paul Schmaedeke, Frank Marson <br />and Kathy Pince for park maintenance, as soon as they are available, <br />at $2.50/hour for 12 weeks, 40 hours/week: will need a 4th person to <br />assist the Certified Tree Inspector, <br /> <br />After discussion, Crichton moved, seconded by Wingert, that Council <br />authorize hiring Paul Schmaedeke, Frank Marson and Kathy Plnce, at <br />$2.50/~our for summer park maintenance as described, subject to <br />approval by the State Manpower Commission, Motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />Summer Program Supervisor <br />Buckley referred Councl I to his memo of 5/23/75 re employment of <br />Summer Program Supervisor for 1975., <br /> <br />Wingert moved, seconded by Feyerelsen, that Council authorize the <br />employment of Dean Ekegren as Program Supervisor for the 1975 Summer <br />Program, at $IOO,OOiweek plus 15(/mlle, from June I to August I. <br />Motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />Park Cleanup Participation <br />Buckley referred Council to a News Release (5/5/75) announcing the <br />schedule of neighborhood park cleanup dates; reporting very effective <br />participation by neighbors, various scout troops, cub packs, etc,; <br />. also resulting in some proposed park names for un-named park sites, <br /> <br />Crichton requested that Councl I consider the five concerns of the <br />Parks Committee before conveying Its decision to Ramsey County Open <br />Space re the Round Lake park and trail proposal, <br /> <br />Crichton reported that the Parks Committee discussed the desirability <br />of uti ilzing tho land under the N.S.P, power lines as part of the Vlllaga <br />trai I system; suggesting that Attorney Lynden discuss posslbl I ity of <br />Vi llage use of +hese easements with N,S,P, Council concurred that <br />the maTTer be rGferred to Lynden for his report to Council, <br /> <br />Crichton noted that the Summer Happenings program Includes a Salling <br />School, which is scheduled at Lake Johanna during hours when the lake <br />Is scheduled for use by motor boats, Buckley said he would gear the <br />lessons for appropriate sailing hours, <br /> <br />Crichton referred Councl I to memo from McNlesh re Apri I report of <br />Mounds View Tennis Court lights (3/23/751. <br />~- <br />
