Blue Fox Inn Status Report - Mr. Ben Goldberg
Mr. Goldberg referred Counc I I to a letter he received (12-18-74) re
fIve questions he wanted to account for:
I. Striping was not completed before the weather turned bad;
had contracted for this work - 1'111 I be done In the spring.
2. The four-way mounted parking lot light was not i nsta II ed as
proposed because Gopher Electric suggested that the two-way
light would be sufficIent on the north and the.other lIght
would be betTer inSTal led on the building TO I ight The parking
lot. He sa I d he tOok their advice and installed them accord-
ingly.
3. Gate has now been Installed on the trash enclosure.
4. Rock was used, Instead of bark mulch, at his landscaper's
suggestion, because bark flows away In rainy weather and Is
more difficult to keep clean. He sa,j d the rock looks nice,
and he considers it to be an Improvement.
5. Sizesand varieties of plantlngs were changed in a few I nstan-
ces because some varieties were not aval lableln the I ate
fa II ; substituted Maple for Russian 01 ive, which is a ta Iler
and more expensive tree; 1'10,1' best way we could, at the time
landscaping was Installed.
I
In answer to Wingert's queSTions re deviations from approved plan for
remade I I I ng of the bui Iding, Mr. Goldberg explaIned that windows o,n
the east were there originally (station plan). In remade I I I ng the
building, the lavatory wall partition came 1 n front of these windows;
wiDdows were eliminated for sound proofing and aesthetic reasons.
Feyereisen advIsed Mr. Goldberg that changes to approved plans should
be presented to the Counci I for approval, before proceeding with con-
struction.
Goldberg ~
t~r . said he was sor"ry, he didAreallze this; his contractor
advised him of the need for the change, wh j'choccurred after construc-
tion was under way. He said it was neg I i gence on his part - an over-
sight; certainly not intentional. He said he wanted the remodel led
bu i , ding to look well - not a "')atch JOb'" has used quaiity material
, ,
-. throughout. He said time was an element also nnd sa i d he would appre-
ciate any consideration on this matter.
Wingert asked Mr. Goldberg If he is satisfied with the bui Iding's
exterior appearance, having changed the plan.
Goldberfl said he would like to add some landscaping to the front of
the bu i i ding to give some wa II coverage, In addition to the low plant-
Ings which have been installed. He sa i d he is not satlsfi~d with the
sign; it is not the sign he had originally proposed. He sa I d he changed
sign companies, and the resultant sign is not in "script" as originally
proposed and approved. . He said he thinks the sign should have some
movement, such as fl ickering lights. He sa i d he is proposing to change
the sign as folloVls, and presented copies of a drawing of the sign to
the Counc II:
Blue Fox Inn - i n blue
Cocktal Is and Food - in red
Background - In white
-1-
u
