Key attributes to consider from a pumping
strategy are:
•Max: Likelihood (risks) of extreme high water levels to buildings, docks, trees, erosion
and increased runoff of silt.
•Min: Likelihood (risks) of extreme low water levels: increase algae, lake weeds, winter
oxygen depletion and fish kills, sandy edge expanding invasive plant growth (purple
loosestrife), bacteria blooms unsafe for swimming and general loss of recreational
value.
•Bounce: Difference between max-min levels within a year
•General lake levels: Median, inner quartile range (between 3rd and 1st quartile levels)
•Implementation: Expected years with pumping, days within a year and number of
on/offs affect staff time and pump wear and tear
