As might be Imagined, the gr'eatest use of the lakes
was for swimmlng--almost 3 times the man hours Indicated as for
the next most popular summer activity, whIch was fishIng. Both
of these results serving to remind us of the need for keeping
our lakes as pollution fr'ee as possible. Canoeing and sailing
were the next most popular summer activities, followed by water
skiing and power boating. Considarable use was made of the lakes
for winter sports activities, but the results of all the Quest-
ionnaires plus the assessment of the commi~tee was that no very
real problem existed in this area of winter recreational activi-
ties.

With this background In mind, the sub-committee submits the pro-
posed rules for watercraft operation on lake Johanna as our
suggested method for Insuring the most equitable use of the
lake possible while also attempting to preserve It for "the
continued pleasureable use by future generations.

Shirley ludlow, Chwmn.
