Page 1 of 2 <br /> <br /> EDC AGENDA ITEM –3B <br /> <br />MEMORANDUM <br /> <br />DATE: April 23, 2025 <br /> <br />TO: Economic Development Commission Chair and Commissioners <br /> <br />FROM: Elena Fransen, Senior Planner <br /> <br />SUBJECT: 2025 EDC Work Plan <br /> <br />Requested Action <br /> <br />The Economic Development Commission should discuss the 2025 EDC Work Plan and tasks that <br />the EDC would like to accomplish in the year ahead. <br /> <br />Background <br /> <br />At the February 26, 2025 meeting, the EDC discussed the in-person business visits started in late <br />2024 and next steps to complete these visits. Staff asked the EDC to consider how the results from <br />the visits could inform the EDC Work Plan. Staff presented the initial responses to the visit <br />questions and identified that 14 of the 21 respondents indicated that they would be interested in <br />attending a public event that features Arden Hills businesses. <br /> <br />During the February 26 meeting, the group discussed hosting an event for local businesses. It was <br />mentioned that this type of event could be held in September to allow for time to plan and get the <br />word out to local businesses to encourage attendance. The group mentioned that the event could <br />be a breakfast event at a local business with sponsorship from a local business. Attendees could be <br />members of the Arden Hills business community, the Economic Development Commission, the <br />City Council, and staff. <br /> <br />Discussion <br /> <br />The EDC should revisit the conversation from the February 26 meeting and the idea of a business <br />event. The EDC should discuss how a business event would fit in the 2025 EDC Work Plan and <br />identify milestones to make progress. <br /> <br />If the group decides to move forward with a business event, details should be discussed, such as <br />the following. <br /> <br />- Purpose of the event <br />- Date
